Jan 12, 2012 - Is it that difficult to keep a promise?
For various reasons but only one excuse, I missed putting my thoughts down for the past few days! I mean how many times I have asked myself "Is it that difficult to keep a promise?" and each time I told myself "Come on! Give me a break!"

I have started school since this Monday night. I will be R2G (Recommended Geotourism Guide) certified after 3 months, if I pass the exam. The 1st session was mainly about background and basics of geotourism, history of ecotourism development in Hong Kong. It amused me. Our lecturer told us this. The wind farm project by HKE had proposed to build a large wind farm in Southeastern Waters outside Sai Kung. The original plan was submitted before HK Geopark was officially setup and at that time, the environmental assessment was based on impacts to eco-system and no consideration of geo-structure. There were no pink dolphins and corals in the waters thus it initially passed the assessment. Since the inauguration of Hong Kong Global Geopark of China in November 2009, laws to protect the geo structure in HK were also enforced. The wind farm proposal was re-assessed again and becasue the proposed was built on a caldera 破火山 now forms the seabed of the basin from outside Sai Kung to Nine Pins Island, the plan had to be resubmitted again and currently if it get approved eventually, the site will be far away from the caldera area to avoid destruction to the caldera. I really like taking this course!
