Our 1st stop in Barcelona was FC Barcelona stadium Camp Nou. U2 would be doing their concert in the stadium thus there was also a queue there in the ticketing office for the concert show tickets.
These crazy HK people posing outside the arena just made people laugh! We waited for our turn to get in. The 1st stop was a 3D FCB movie show.
After the movie the tour went into the playground! Really amazing. The tour later took us to all level of the arena, the trophies room, the museum etc etc. We spent around an hour there before we left for Parc Gueil. However, there were just so many road deviation and we were a bit lost in the streets. We decided to move ahead to the never-finished church.
Temple Expiatori Sagrada Familia was designed by Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), who worked on the project for over 40 years. Gaudi devoted the last 15 years of his life entirely to the endeavor. On the subject of the extremely long construction period, Gaudí is said to have remarked, "My client is not in a hurry."
The building works are expected to be completed around 2026, the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death, although the likelihood of meeting this date is disputed. The church is scheduled to open for worship by September 2010. The construction budget for 2009 alone is 18 million €! (Extracted from Wikipedia)
We walked around the church to see the 3 different façade, the Nativity façade to the East, the Glory façade to the South (yet to be completed) and the Passion façade to the West.
The Nativity facade (left) was built before work was interrupted in 1935 and bears the most direct Gaudí influence. The Passion façade (below) is especially striking for its spare, gaunt, tormented characters, including emaciated figures of Christ being flogged and on the crucifix.
We left Barcelona feeling very tired already as it was too hot! We packed our lunch with all the 'leftovers' of food we cooked in the morning and as it's almost 3pm already, we said we would eat them on the road at oil stop.
We drove for almost 4 hours to reach Millau. And we were lost again! I couldn't believe we were lost twice! We got very suspicious when our GPS led us into a very narrow bridge and those like hiking trails. We stoppe in a beautiful house but there was no sign of chambre d'hote to be seem. A lady walked out to check us out and I got down and asked her. Her name is Catharina and she is absolutely a fine and nice lady! I told her that where we would want to go and although she had got no idea where it was and offered to call the B&B for us, using her phone. I got through and our host Isabelle told me that we had to get to the train station and then did this and that and then would find her place. Catharina's husband had also got down to check us out. He said he was from England and his wife from Belgian! They had been living there for a long time and some 20-30 years ago he had been to HK! He was so nice he drew a map telling me how to go from his house to the train station. I said thanks and then we headed again for our adventure!
We got to the train station but then I got lost after passing the railway! Poor nagivator! It was 7:30pm already. Isabelle had helped us make a booking at a nice chateau restaurant called Hôtel Restaurant Château de Creissels around 15 minutes from there. I called Isabelle again and got her son whom did not understand me. We finally decided to go for dinner first and worry about the night later :)

Converted to a hotel in 1960, extended and redecorated in 1972, the Chateau de Creissels has a long history. Over the centuries, the Chateau has undergone many transformations; however the salon, library, hotel reception, restaurant dining room (formerly the Guards Room) and the covered way make up the oldest part of the chateau, dating back to the 12th century.
We had a very good time there. Philip, our host called saying that he was visiting his family anyway so might as well pick us up when we were ready to leave. Our meal of course lasted for 3 hours again and by the time we were ready to leave, it was 11pm! Philip, Isabelle and their children came together and we drove for around 15 minutes up the hill and reached the beautiful Domaine de la cadenede.
I really like this house. I wish I would have one like this and could live the rest of my life there (yeah yeah I know it's the nth time I said that for different places ^v^)... It's very late at night already so we leave the exploration the next day. Breakfast was set to be 9am again.
Bon nuit! |
