We had had our breakfast in the garden again. Fresh fruit was also available. And our chefs had baked us a pizza! Another sumptuous breakfast! After everyone was done, we all chatted with Barbara and Jonathan. We were talking about fresh ingrediants grown in the farm and Barbara gave me an ice bar which was made from the raspberries from the garden! Later on I was asking what kind of leaves we were eating (yes we ate leaves!) the night before and he shown us around his farm where they had grown apples, cherries and a lot of other herbs and fruits!
We talked and walked and just forgot the time! We eventually left at around 11am. We originally wanted to go to Rocamodor, an old medival town built along the hill but it was quite out of our way to the mountain across the border to Spain so with Barbara's suggestion, we dropped that and thought we might choose to stop in any small towns we saw on the road.
Our first stop was Marmande. It ranks 481st in terms of population in the whole of France. A noted producer of tomatoes, a festival dedicated to tomatoes is held annually in July. We stopped by the most notable building, the church of Notre-Dame which dates from the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. In French it's called Le Cloître de Marmande et l’église Notre Dame de Marmande.

Adjoining the southern side of the gothic church, the cloister, of which only two sides remain, has fine sculpted decorative elements in the French renaissance style. According to an epigraph, the group of buildings dates back to 1540. The decorative style is extremely elegant and varied. L’Eglise Notre-Dame (The Church of Our Lady) . Beautiful building in the High Gothic style, built during the wars with England in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The huge bell-tower on the north facade was entirely rebuilt after 1672 (extracted from the offical website of the Tourism Office of Val de Garonne).
We stayed until 1pm and continued South again. We came to another small town called Nérac. Nerac is a lovely medieval town by the river Baïse. We first parked by the river and walked along it. I saw this boat (right) and talked to the couple on the boat. They travelled all the way in their boat from Belgian along this river to here! What a trip! Wish we could someday own a boat and live like this! The the rest of gang met a girl who came from San Francisco and recommended us to walked across the pedestrian footbridge and all the pebble stone roads which would lead us further into the town with a lot of medival buildings on the side. We took a stroll accordingly and we did not regret it. I walked up the hill and overlooked the whole Nerac town. It's breathtaking. I had in my mind voted Nerac as my favorite place in this trip!
Regardless of the hot weather, we had had a lot of funs. It's almost time and we need to be on the road again as we would need to climb the mountain to Biert where we would stay the night. We left at almost 4pm.
We followed the GPS to go up to Biert. You couldn't imagine how shocked we were when we found that the bridge across the river was blocked and there was no road ahead! We remembered as long as we were driving along the river, we didn't see any other prior bridge then this one. I walked across the bridge trying to find someone to ask but there was no one. I approached a taxi driver and he didn't understood me! We could either drive back until a point where the GPS didn't tell us to U-turn or call our host. I called and she told us that we could drive back for around 15 minutes and then there would be some roundabouts where we could then find our way up the mountain. By the time we got to the chambre d'hote, it was 8pm!
Maison Esmeralda is 600m above sea level on Pyrénées 比利牛斯山. Our host Heather is also from the U.K
While Heather was preparing our dinner, we played with her lovely Border Collie. It loved to play fetch with us and there was another small cat as well and it's so cute and it ran and climbed non-stop! They were so adorable!
After dinner, I went out to give Ju back her portable HD and we got to see the stars above. Twinkling and sparkling and they were like stardust! So amazing!
Quite tired already so bon nuit!
