I could say that this breakfast was our BEST breakfast we had in this trip. Everything was homemade, the fruit bowl, yogart, bread, jam etc. And they tasted so very nice. Tasted just so good I can now still remember it!
The picture on the right is the living room of the whole 'compound' we stayed which has all together 5 double rooms and 2 single rooms.
We left again at around 10am and went to the nearest tourist office in Medoc.
We ended up founding ourselves at the tourist office in Cussac Fort Medoc which is in Haut Medoc.
I went into the office and a very nice French lady shown us where we could go. The closest winery where they had English speaking wine tour would be Chateau Lanessan. She helped us make a booking at 11am and off we go. The road sign was too small and the 1st time we went pass through it.
We finally were there. The tour and tasting costed 8€ p.p.
We were out in the vineyard, checking the pressing tanks, fermentation tanks etc. And of course all the barrels. Our host had done a great job detailing the history of the chateau and each step from determining when would be the harvest period of the grapes to how the fermentated juicies were bottled and aged. It was a very informative tour.
We came back from the tour and did a couple of tasting. We tasted 1x2005 and 1x1997. The 1st one was a bit too dry for me and I liked the 2nd one. Me & Kevin were deciding what to buy and I asked our host which years were better for immediate drinking. She recommended 1992 and 1996 and they were not expensive. We bought these 2 and later on we drank then in Spain.
So after the tour, we meant to take the car ferry to cross La Gironde (Gironde River) to Blaye which was recommended by JM, our host at Les Roses. Bad of me, I remembered the time wrong and thought the ferry took off at 12:30pm but it was noon instead. By the time we got to the ferry pier in Lamarque, the ferry was long gone and the next ferry was at 3pm! Not that we could catch the noon ferry though as our tour ended at noon. So then we headed South and since we were there, we decided to go into Bordeaux which originally we wanted to avoid as it's such a big metropolitan city.
It took us almost half an hour to find parking spaces for 2 cars. Anyway, we spent around an hour on the street. I had got a couple of LV orders to do so we went in and then spent the rest of time at the Bordeaux Cathedral.
We headed South for that night's chambre d'hote, Clos des Saveurs in Gensac, which is also run by an English couple who were both ex-chefs when they lived in London.
Before the trip, I had researched the addresses of the places we would be and input them all to the GPS I borrowed from Peter my friend. I must have got a slight deviation and by the time our GPS told us that we had arrived at our destination, Clos des Saveurs was no where to be seen and we had got a not very friendly French lady came out from her ranch and told us that we had to leave as the place we parked to make sense out of all these was a bus stop. Unfortunately I did not have the tel no. of our hosts handly. I called Sidney of La Roseraie as it was him who referred me to this chambre d'hote. I had got him but the connection was so weak. We eventually drove back to town which I did not know the name! I had finally got hold of Barbara, our host in Clos des Saveurs and after awhile probing our whereabouts, she confirmed that we were indeed in Gensac and should be only 5 minutes away from them. And after awhile she gave up telling me where to go and sent Jonathan, her husband, to come and get us! Thank God!
Clos des Saveurs is not an ordinary, not even a deluxe grade B&B, it's an exquisite and ultra-extraordinary one. The decor is so different and comtemporary. I can honestly say that it's like a luxuary boutique hotel.
Barbara & Jonathan are chefs so of course we would like to take the guest table. And we were just amazed by the superb culinary experience.
To start the dinner, of course we had a vast choice of cool wine for apperitif. And look at our 1st courses .... oysters, shrimps, Chinese wontun in a special soup made by Barbara, parma ham & olives, calamari etc and the last 1st course I believe was some kind of pâté de foie gras ... we were almost full after all these sumptuous first courses.

And then we had our main course, roast duck breast and then dessert... wow.. to tastefully end the whole experience, Barbara brewed us some coffee. They were the best coffee we had tasted so far in France. Regardless that coffee would sometime keep us awake, I had had a while mug! And I didn't need to worry about sleep anyway. Navigating all day, touring all day and drinking all the wine, I didn't need to count to 3 to get myself into a complete coma on bed!
