Jiaming Lake is the highest mountain-lake located in the southern part of the Central Mountain Range. Because of its elliptical shape, Jiaming Lake is also known as “Egg Pond”. The surface of the lake is an azure blue color, giving it the appearance of a sapphire among the mountains. Another name for it is “Angel’s Tears”. Of especial interest is the fact that it is the only high-mountain lake confirmed to have been created by the landing of a meteorite.
